This is a very practical approach to learning the instrument. The emphasis is on playing first then backing this up with theory and notation. The tuition is focused on a set of objectives designed to enable the student to develop steadily. It is in alignment with national examination boards.

Firstly, the playing of melody is studied and developed. This gives the student a sense of achievement and leads to chord accompaniment, which the younger student sometimes finds more difficult.

As well as the playing skills, the use of modern electronics keyboards will be explored to enhance the players range and competence of the instrument.

Students pursuing qualifications can be tutored in aspects of their practical studies in most examination boards, as the tutor works within schools and colleges teaching in this field.
