Sunday 3 October, 7.30pm

Pyramid, £14/£12

Having cut her teeth as lead singer with Irish American all-female outfit Cherish The Ladies, Heidi Talbot is right at home in the twin worlds of Irish traditional and roots music.

Talbot's 2008 CD, In Love + Light, propelled her into the spotlight as a singer with a hunger for lyrically challenging and melodically inventive songs and set her on an Indie path that celebrated her traditional influences while giving her distinctive voice its own space. She is no box-ticking singer in search of a cosy lounging space, but an artist invigorated by the search for alternative ways of inhabiting a song.

2009 saw Heidi tour as the support act and backing singer for Eddie Reader on her 45 date tour of the UK and Ireland and in addition to her own sold out concerts and festival performances, she also toured extensively with new folk supergroup Drever, McCusker, Woomble. When not on tour Heidi is in demand as a recording artist, singing on new records by Idlewild, Eddie Reader, and Kris Drever. In Love and Light won an Indie Acoustic Award for best album and Heidi was nominated Best Female Vocalist at the 2009 Irish Music Awards.

“Heidi Talbot sings in a voice that’s both awestruck and tender” (New York Times)

“Talbot is exquisite. . .Björk combined with Enya” (Village Voice)
